Spring Point Ledge Light lighthouse
Spring Point Ledge Light - Constructed in 1897 is a caisson lighthouse. When it was originally built it was unconnected to the shore. The breakwater that connects it to the shore was built in 1951. This meant the keeper of the light could now walk to and from the lighthouse instead of rowing a boat back and forth to work. Spring Point is a sectored light, you can see the red and clear sectors in the lantern gallery. These signals help mariners with night time navigation.
